SPA Leadership

The SPA board of directors are storage industry leaders and represent senior management from the Sponsor Member companies. The members of the 2015-16 board of directors are:


Brendan Collins is vice president of Product Marketing at HGST, a Western Digital Company. Collins assures that the company's hard disk drives are innovative, high quality and competitive while meeting a range of customer needs from enterprise to consumer electronics applications.

With more than 20 years of technical and management experience in the disk drive industry, Mr. Collins previously was director of Enterprise Market Development for Seagate Technology, where he focused on developing emerging business opportunities. He came to Seagate through the company's acquisition of Maxtor Corporation, where he had advanced from senior director to vice president of Marketing, over time addressing the full range of Maxtor's enterprise, desktop and consumer products.

Prior positions also include senior positions in product development and manufacturing engineering at Quantum Corporation and Digital Equipment Corporation, the company that had moved Mr. Collins from his native Ireland to Germany and then the United States.

Raghu.jpg Raghu Gururangan is Toshiba's Vice President of Engineering R&D. He joined Toshiba in 2005 through the acquisition of the Panasonic (MKE) US design center where he served as GM responsible for product development. He became responsible for integrating the Panasonic design team into Toshiba and leading the US Fujitsu Hard Disk Drive engineering & quality team which was acquired by Toshiba in 2009. He is currently responsible for all US-based customers for SSD & HDD products and also involved in product planning and business development activities within Toshiba. Raghu brings to the position more than twenty years of experience in product development, including his tenure as the founder & President of a startup company that was later acquired by Panasonic. Prior to this, Raghu held various engineering management positions within Maxtor, Quantum and Seagate.
kurt richarz jk.jpg D. Kurt Richarz is executive vice president worldwide sales at Seagate. Prior to that, he served as Seagate's executive vice president, sales; executive vice president, sales and customer service operations; senior vice president of global OEM sales; and vice president of global OEM sales. Before the Seagate acquisition of Maxtor Corporation, Richarz served as Maxtor vice president, global OEM account sales and senior vice president of worldwide wales. Previously, he also served in various sales positions at Quantum Corporation.
Cindi Grace is the Vice President of Business Management for WD. Ms. Grace is responsible for management of WD's business with OEM customers and through distribution channels. Reporting to Jim Murphy, WD president, her current responsibilities include pricing, contracts, sales planning, demand planning and long-term customer agreements for products in the consumer electronics, client, datacenter and other, emerging markets.

Ms. Grace has served WD for more than 25 years, holding a wide variety of roles in operations, marketing, product management, product marketing and business management. Ms. Grace is active in her community, including as a member of the board of directors for the Valiant Women of Mission Hospital group.
